Immersive Installation - The 9th Altar
I harnessed the power of Samhain—the benevolent energies of chaos and darkness—to complete The 9th Altar, the final station in the Serpentine Field collection. This work culminates a nine-year pilgrimage including the holy snakes of Mary and the ancient Mycenaean serpent cult.
The immersive installation The 9th Altar in the Serpentine Field stands as a site where elemental forces and serpentine forms evolve eyes and consciousness. Through a creative partnership with emerging technologies, these primal, elemental layers of deep Earth are patterned, unraveled, and reassembled, weaving a spirited tapestry that both remembers and reimagines their mythic unfolding.
The 9th Altar is both still and in motion. Silently and to the sounds of the elements, a woman appears, kneels with jars of offerings, only to vanish like mist.
The 9th Altar in the Serpentine Field is now available as an immersive installation. Interested curators, collectors, and organizations are invited to contact Dr. Lila Moore.
